5 reasons to begin!
1. Positive Atmosphere: Walking into a CrossFit box you will notice the group fitness class working together and cheering/pushing each other one.
2. Constantly Changing: The workouts never repeat, you are being continuously challenged to complete functional gassing movements in a quick fashion. So that means no walking up to the treadmill for the never ending last time again.
3. Keep It Simple: In ten minutes or less you can be out of breath and get in a quality workout. For example try this: 7 Minutes as many rounds as possible- 5 burpees, 5 Push-ups, 10 air squats and see how you feel compared to stepping off the treadmill.
4. Anyone Can Do It: literally anyone, CrossFit has a Masters division of 55 year olds to a Teen Division. The Olympic lifts may scare people away of convince them it is dangerous, but that's only if you ignore the Coaches cues and instructional methods.
5. Improve Metal Toughness: During a workout (WOD) you are going to be in a rep that you want to take a break or rest, but CrossFit will help you push though and prove your body can do more than you think.

I have always found CrossFit to be an interesting topic. I do not know much about it and this was very informative to get to know more. These five reasons have made me more interested and wanting to find out more. I will for sure be staying in tune with your blog to find out more about CrossFit and for some examples of different activities/ exercises done in CrossFit. I know it is a different type of exercise that a lot of people push a side but the information you have provided, shows me that it could be something for me. I look forward to reading even more about CrossFit and will start to do more research about it on my own.
ReplyDeleteBeing totally honest I never really understood what CrossFit was. After reading this blog it sounds like a really fun and open environment to workout in. For me, the worst part about going to the gym is the intimidation of other gym goers when you walk in. I hate being made feel like you aren't welcome but with CrossFit it is great that everyone is doing the same thing and everyone has the same goals. I hope that you post more about CrossFit so I can learn more about it. Great topic!
ReplyDeleteCool topic and love the blog you can tell it is something you really enjoy doing and are passionate about. I think it's funny that you said most people get hooked because a lot of people I know who have tried it have become coaches or go to a cross fit box on a regular basis. I was able to try a cross fit work out in my group fitness class and she only picked 4 exercises for 12 minutes but wow did I feel the burn. Definitely something I would consider trying because like you said it is not just about the physical improvements of finishing each rep but also about the mental aspect. I like how you incorporated that picture because it proves all the points that you listed.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice of topic, I've always been interested/ intimidated by Crossfit and have been wanting to try it for a while now, just to see if I would survive! The coolest thing about it is the whole community atmosphere and I love the idea of pushing each other on to reach new heights. When it comes to a choice between a long monotonous routine and a constantly changing routine and environment, the latter wins out every time. I'm a bit more confident about trying it now and I'll be following this to learn all I can about it, thanks Stacey!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed really this blog post. I think a lot of people have had a negative connotation when they refer to CrossFit or think its too hard. I love that you are so passionate about it! I think it is awesome that they incorporate a variety of exercise into a short period of time because many people say that they do not have "time" or get bored with their workouts! I can't wait to find out more about CrossFit and possibly try it out.
ReplyDeleteCrossFit is awesome, great topic! I really love the 5 reasons of why you should begin. I feel like a lot of people are intimidated with CrossFit but it's fun and an amazing way way for people to succeed physically and mentally. In addition, I really love the "What is CrossFit" video. People who never heard or know what it is really explains the science behind it and its purpose. I love watching the CrossFit Games on TV. Hopefully I can get back into it! Thank you for the motivation Stacey!
