Veterans Day is all about honoring Vets, and today we did that through a workout called "Three Wise Men". CrossFit dedicates and names Workouts of the Day (WOD's) to Veterans that community members can try out. Also, they contribute many more countless workouts to Vets you can test yourself with. One of the more demanding WOD named "Murph"consisting of:
1 mile run
100 Pull-Ups
200 Push-Ups
300 air squats
1 mile run
**All for Time
This workout is named after Murph who served in Afghanistan and usually programmed every Memorial Day to honor his service. Since today is Veterans Day our Box completed the workout "Three Wise Men" to honor three men who served for our Country. The WOD Programmed to honor Veterans Day was:
"Jeremy"
AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible) in 4 Minutes:
5 Hang Squat Snatches Rx 95 lbs.
10 Barbell Burpees
--Rest 2 Minutes--
"Ben"
AMRAP in 4 Minutes
10 Power Cleans Rx 95 lbs.
20 Pull-Ups
--2 Minute Rest--
"Beau"
AMRAP in 4 Minutes
15 Box Jump Overs Rx 20"
30 Wall Balls Rx 14 lbs.
Relating physical activity to Veterans Day is a great thing! I like how crossfit has a workout of the day (WOD's). It is very motivational! Naming the actually workouts after vets makes me want to do the workout and give it 100% of my effort like they did for us one day. I am making it a goal to do one of these workouts today in honor veterans.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in high school, my swim team did workouts at a cross fit gym. On Veterans Day, we actually did the "Murph" workout. I had to do modifications, because I am not able to do 100 pull-ups, but it was still cool. I agree with what Megan said, since the workouts are named after vets, it gives you more of an insentive to give the workout your all, since they put thier life on the line for you. I look forward to ready more about cross-fit on your blog, because I find it a very interesting topic and a great workout!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool how you guys honored these vets in such a remarkable way. I never even knew that there was a "three wise men" CrossFit workout. The workout seems very difficult and I would be sore afterwards! I have never done CrossFit but would love to try it. Really cool post Stacey!
ReplyDeleteVery informative and patriotic! Crossfit really does push you to your limits. I would definitely like to try that out sometime and see how far I could actually get. I also like there is an exercise that goes by my name ! Altogether it seems like a great work out that would completely push you to your limits !
